Celina, Ohio: A small town with big Pride [GALLERY]

In Celina, Ohio, residents attended the town’s third annual Pride festival — organized by local nonprofit Small Town Pride.

In Celina, Ohio, residents celebrated the town’s third annual Pride, organized by local nonprofit Small Town Pride – Celina.

Small Town Pride was founded in 2020 by Celina native Kyle Bruce and his family.

“My family is amazing,” Bruce said in a public speech at the event on June 25. “But that doesn’t mean coming out was easy. Celina didn’t make it easy.”

By organizing annual Pride celebrations — and providing a scholarship for one Celina High School senior via raffle earnings from the event — Bruce hopes to change that experience for other LGBTQ+ people living in Mercer County.

This year, Celina Pride featured live music, drag performances, vendors, face painting and a march to the Mercer County Courthouse.
