The Buckeye Flame is proud to announce acceptance into the inaugural Creative Midwest Media Cohort.
This year-long program will support the creation of content highlighting rural Ohio LGBTQ+ artists and arts-based organizations’ LGBTQ+ initiatives and events.
“We’re thrilled that we can not only amplify the voices of rural LGBTQ+ Ohioans, but also of those individuals and organizations creating opportunities for queer joy and creativity,” said Ken Schneck, editor of The Buckeye Flame.
This opportunity is presented by Arts Midwest, an organization that supports, informs and celebrates Midwestern creativity.
“Arts Midwest is excited to support these outstanding media professionals and amplify the significant work they are doing to inform and inspire communities,” said Torrie Allen, president & CEO of Arts Midwest. “We envision this new initiative building a connected network of media-makers across the Midwest, while sharing stories of how creativity manifests in our lives.”
Call for Submissions
To help create a wide representation of stories, readers are strongly encouraged to submit a story idea about a rural Ohio LGBTQ+ artist or an arts-based organization’s LGBTQ+ initiative or event.
“We want to hear about all that is both queer and creatively unique in rural Ohio,” said Schneck. “And our readers know best about what’s happening in their corner of the state.”
The series will extend throughout 2024 and the submission link will stay open until the end of the year. 🔥
