LGBTQ+ Ohioans host events to celebrate 2024 Transgender Day of Visibility

Ohioans mark Transgender Day of Visibility with poetry readings, public protest and everything in between.

Across the state, Ohioans are preparing to mark Transgender Day of Visibility with more than a dozen events featuring live music, kid-friendly gatherings, protests and poetry readings.

Akron Trans Day of Visibility Celebration 2024

Friday, March 29, 2024 – 6:00pm-9:00pm

(No-cost) activities include community awards, craft-making, food and dessert offerings, open mic performances, swag bags and gender-affirming clothing pop-up in addition to other gender-affirming resources.

After Cincinnati musician and event co-organizer Ty Holiday died unexpectedly earlier this month, a show originally set to celebrateTrans Day of Visibility will now serve as a benefit and memorial gathering:

“We believe, in honor of our dear friend and event co-organizer Ty Holiday, the best thing we can do is carry on as scheduled in her memory. The four remaining acts have agreed to perform and we will do what we can to make this event great. We will hold space at the end of the evening, where Anaphaunt was scheduled to perform. The righteousness of our cause is more apparent now than ever. And we will fight for those who are still with us. see you there.”


All proceeds from the event benefit Transform Cincy, a Cincinnati-based LGBTQ+ non-profit that provides a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ youth to shop for clothing.

Kona, Hawaii. A former drag queen gets his heels back, a teacher learns to embrace her bisexuality and a Māhū warrior is inspired to be more vulnerable.

Shows will contain adult language, though all ages welcome. Often topics like mental health and religious trauma are discussed in these episodes.”
