Caracole, Greater Cincinnati’s HIV services organization, is hosting their 11th annual AIDS Walk + 5K/10K Run fundraiser at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum on Sunday, April 7, 2024, the day before the solar eclipse takes place in our region.
Registrants can arrive starting at 8:00 AM at Spring Grove Cemetery (setup is directly behind the Spring Grove Funeral Home Building) to pick up their race bibs, “Day-Before-the-Eclipse” themed t-shirts and solar eclipse glasses prior to the 9:00 AM run/walk kickoff time. Online registration ends on Wednesday, April 3, but individuals can still participate by registering the day of the event. Same-day adult registration fees are $40 for the 5K run/walk or $55 for the 10K run. Youth pricing for those 19 and under is also available at the family-friendly event.
Participants will enjoy the springtime blossoms and features of Spring Grove while also getting a chance to learn more about HIV. Educational signs about HIV/AIDS and the work that Caracole does in the community line the course. Linda Seiter, Caracole’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasizes that beyond fundraising to support Caracole’s mission, “our annual walk/run is an opportunity to educate the community about HIV and combat stigma, all while coming together to celebrate Spring.”

New this year—Caracole is hosting their first-ever Pre-Race Heels & Meals: Spaghetti Dinner & Drag Bingo on Saturday, April 6 from 5:00–7:00 PM at Calvary Episcopal Church in Clifton. Dinner guests will be able to carb up on spaghetti, play bingo and enter a split-the-pot-raffle to raise funds for Caracole’s mission before the walk/run. This event is open to the entire community, not just race participants. All meal prices —$10 per adult and $6 per youth (ages 19 and younger)—include beverages and dessert. Bingo is $5 per game or 3 games for $10. Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket.
Caracole is Greater Cincinnati’s nonprofit devoted to positively changing lives in the fight against HIV/AIDS. For people living with HIV, the organization provides housing, case management and pharmacy services to improve health and well-being. Their prevention services focus on outreach, testing, education and harm reduction to help people reduce their risk for HIV.

Caracole relies heavily on donations and fundraising events like the AIDS Walk + 5K/10K Run and Heels & Meals to meet the expenses crucial to fulfilling their mission, like distributing HIV self-test kits, offering harm reduction supplies and assisting clients who could not otherwise afford the increasing costs of HIV medications.
Attending the event is more than just a walk (or run) in the park—all proceeds help support Caracole’s efforts to help people at-risk for and living with HIV in the Greater Cincinnati community. 🔥
