LGBTQ+ Career & Resource Fair to help Ohio jobseekers

Plexus LGBT & Allied Chamber of Commerce and the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland will once again be hosting the LGBTQ+ Career & Resource Fair, an empowering event designed to provide a safe, inclusive space for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ to explore career opportunities, connect with inclusive employers, and access resources to help them thrive professionally.

The event will be held Saturday, March 29th, 2025 from 10am-1pm at the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland (6705 Detroit Avenue). Admission is free and pre-registration is encouraged by visiting the event website.

“Now more than ever, LGBTQ+ individuals need spaces where they are seen, valued, and given real opportunities to thrive,” said Phyllis Harris, Executive Director of the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland. “Discrimination and inequities still exist in the workplace, and events like this are critical in creating pathways to stability and success.”

The Plexus LGBTQ+ Career & Resource Fair continues its vital work to foster inclusivity and support LGBTQ+ individuals in the workplace. Since its establishment in 2021, this event has been a crucial response to the needs identified in the 2024 Cleveland LGBTQ Community Needs Assessment, offering job seekers opportunities to connect with inclusive employers, develop critical career skills, and access professional resources.

The 2024 Cleveland LGBTQ Community Needs Assessment revealed that:

39% of respondents experienced verbal harassment in the workplace.
73% reported microaggressions.
53% faced stereotyping.
28% felt they were passed over for promotions due to their identity.

Recognizing these challenges, the Career & Resource Fair provides actionable solutions. Through workshops, panel discussions, and one-on-one mentoring, participants can enhance their resumes, develop interview skills, and refine their personal branding and job search strategies. The fair also facilitates direct connections with employers committed to diversity and inclusion, creating a supportive and empowering environment.
