This Saturday, April 9, more than 1,000 people will gather in downtown Columbus to participate in AIDS Walk Ohio 2022. This year’s 5K walk, 5K run, and 1-mile stroll begins at Genoa Park — between COSI and the Scioto River.

For more than 30 years, AIDS Walk Ohio has raised money and awareness for HIV/AIDS service organizations in Ohio, primarily Equitas Health.

“AIDS Walk Ohio is one of the biggest opportunities of the year to give back in support those living with HIV/AIDS,” said Robert Copeland, Equitas Health’s interim CEO. “When you support the AIDS Walk, you’re providing treatment, prevention, and support services for thousands of people across the state of Ohio.”

This year, AIDS Walk Ohio is proud to present a special appearance from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestant and HIV activist Ongina, who will speak about living with HIV, as well as her groundbreaking performance career. The Renegaydes, Columbus drag superstar Virginia West, and the West Family will also perform.

Food trucks, vendors, and a DJ will be at Genoa Park, located at 303 W. Broad St. in Columbus. Check-in for the event starts at 9 AM. The program begins at 9:40 AM on the amphitheater stage. The 5K run begins at 10:30 AM, followed by the 5K walk & one-mile stroll. The event will wrap up promptly at noon.

You still have time to walk, run, or volunteer at AIDS Walk Ohio. There is even an option to register as a virtual walker/runner and participate in your own neighborhood.

Proceeds of AIDS Walk Ohio help people living with HIV reach and maintain viral suppression. This means they can live longer, healthier lives without passing the virus to their sexual partners.

Undetectable equals untransmittable. 🔥
