Ellenton, Florida
Joe Stanley was very much loved by many in Cleveland’s LGBTQ community. He bartended at bars such as The Vaults and The Leather Stallion in the late 70s and 80s. He also had his own private cleaning business and, for a short while, worked at University Hospitals. He lived with AIDS (diagnosed in 1988) and faced additional health challenges. Through it all, he had strong faith in God; he loved church and sang in the choir. Joey was very much loved and will be terribly missed. Joe’s partner, Gary, and his brother, Bob, are planning a memorial service on July 25th, 2026, at First Christian Church, 335 W. Main St., Kent, OH. A light luncheon and reception will follow in the church hall. RSVP if you plan to attend by mid-July; email Gary at drvrdrvr@gmail.com or Bob at rls1082000@yahoo.com. Joey said laughter is the BEST medicine. He loved The Three Stooges, The Golden Girls, and Mamma’s Family.
