OutReels Cincinnati Film Festival Celebrates 10 Years of LGBTQ+ Movie Magic

The 10th annual OutReels Cincinnati Film Festival will be held 11/12-11/14 at the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater in Price Hill.

The tenth annual OutReels Cincinnati Film Festival will be held Friday, November 12 through Sunday, November 14 at the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater in Price Hill. Sixteen films with an LGBTQ+ interest will be screened throughout the weekend to celebrate the festival’s tenth anniversary.

“OutReels is all about telling stories — oftentimes stories you would never hear if not for a festival like this,” said David Wolff, OutReels Festival Director. “Because it is our tenth anniversary, this year’s festival focuses on celebrating those stories — celebrating who we are, how far we’ve come, and what makes us unique.”

The weekend opens on Friday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the film “Jump, Darling.” Starring Cloris Leachman in her final role prior to her death, the film follows a rookie drag queen and his grandmother as they make decisions about what is important in life and what inspires us to carry on.

The festival has three blocks of films on Saturday, November 13. Kicking off at 2 p.m. is a series of seven shorts, featuring a variety of international films. The feature at 4 p.m. is “Landlocked,” which tells the story of a man who reunites with his estranged transgender father to scatter his mother’s ashes.

The centerpiece film on Saturday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. is “Cloudburst” —the same opening night film shown during the debut of OutReels Cincinnati in July 2012. This special encore presentation will be followed with a celebration and birthday cake in the theater’s lobby.

The festival’s final day kicks off on Sunday, November 14 at 1 p.m. with the OutReels Birthday Drag Brunch, followed by a screening of “Being Bebe,” featuring the first winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Bebe Zahara Benet. The brunch is included in the price of a film ticket thanks to the generosity of NKY Pride and the Creative House of Art & Design.

The closing block on Sunday, November 14 at 4 p.m. features two films about gay comics, including “No Straight Lines: The Rise of Queer Comics,” which details the emergence of five pioneering queer cartoonists.
