
Larry Lee Lynn, age 54, of Heath, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).
Larry was born May 3, 1968 in Newark, Ohio to the late Francis Lee Lynn and the late Bertha Marie (Heck) Lynn.
Larry was the owner of Second Skins Leather Shop in Seattle for many years. He continued his career as a location consultant in Palm Springs and as a floral designer in Seattle and Palm Springs. Most recently he was a chef in Hebron at a catering company called Tufo’s To Go.
Larry was involved in many activities in the communities in which he resided including LGBTQ+ activism. He served as President of the Newark Ohio Pride Coalition, was a volunteer for the Desert AIDS Project, and was a member of the Palm Springs Dog Club. He was a dog trainer for rally competitions
A lifelong Democrat, Larry had a per chance meeting with President Gerald Ford in a doctors waiting room in Rancho Mirage, California. The two of them sat there and had a nice talk. Larry later said, “Gee, maybe I could’ve voted for this guy!”
Larry was an athlete and participant in the 1990 International Gay Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. A passionate guitarist, Larry loved Metal music and especially the group Iron Maiden. He was a wonderful artist who loved to paint with acrylics and was a creator of gourd art. He had a passion for Native American culture and art. He also enjoyed flagging.
Larry will be greatly missed by his partner of 21 years, Phil Snyder; and by his siblings, Vicki (Bruce) Mercer, Tracy (Ron) Schneider, Diana (Bill) Miller, Rose (Rene) Fonseca, Daniela (Pete) Kolicuris, and Roberto Nacinovich; his step-mother, Sue Lynn; and many nieces and nephews.
Tributes to Larry’s valued involvement in Newark Ohio Pride Coalition have been pouring in on social media.
“Larry was such an incredible person. He did so much for so many and put his heart and soul into this organization,” wrote one user on Facebook.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date. 🔥
