The Buckeye Flame seeks a Northeast Ohio college student for full-time (PAID) summer internship
This is a 11-week, 40 hour/week commitment paid at a rate of $17/hour and tailored to the candidate’s interests and experiences.
With the incredible support of The Cleveland Foundation, The Buckeye Flame is excited to offer a paid summer internship opportunity.
This is a 11-week, full-time, paid opportunity that includes a mix of virtual and in-person work based in Ohio.
We are seeking candidates who wish to gain local newsroom experience or engage in other roles that support the creation and distribution of high-quality local journalism, including: news writing/article creation, social media strategies and community outreach via Pride celebrations.
Some important details:
- Interns will begin May 29 and work through August 9.
- This will be a 40 hour/week commitment paid at a rate of $17/hour.
- Internship experiences will be tailored to the candidate’s interests and experiences.
- Participation in a college journalism program is preferred, but not required.
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Applicants must be a college junior or senior in fall 2024, a graduating senior in spring 2024, or first year graduate students in spring 2024.
- If not a student attending a college or university in Cuyahoga, Lake or Geauga counties, applicants must be a permanent resident of Cuyahoga, Lake or Geauga counties.
- Applicants should exhibit interest in the nonprofit or public sectors.
- Applicants must not be a relative of a member of Cleveland Foundation staff or Board of Directors.

- One required letter of recommendation (with 2 letters permitted) from individuals familiar with your academic work, employment experience or community/volunteer activities.

You will then need to upload a statement identifying the reference who will be mailing a letter of recommendation on your behalf. We will upload all recommendation letters received by the application deadline.
