Caracole invites Ohio community to ‘Get Your Wig On’ at annual Cincinnati AIDS Walk + Run on 3/29

Cincinnati’s nonprofit devoted to positively changing lives in the fight against HIV hosts annual AIDS Walk + 5K/10K Run

Caracole, Greater Cincinnati’s nonprofit devoted to positively changing lives in the fight against HIV, will host its annual AIDS Walk + 5K/10K Run on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum.

The event brings together runners, walkers, families and supporters from across the region to raise funds and awareness while supporting people impacted by HIV. Events like the AIDS Walk + Run help fund critical services, including housing, prevention, testing and care for people living with HIV and those at risk.

This year’s theme, “Get Your Wig On,” encourages participants to show up boldly and celebrate individuality while supporting a serious cause.

“Our walk and run is a joyful expression of community,” says Jeniece D. Jones, MPA, JD, Chief Executive Officer of Caracole. “The fun we share together becomes fuel for real change — expanding access to HIV testing and treatment, keeping people safely housed, and connecting individuals to the support they need to thrive. When we show up with joy, we don’t just celebrate community — we strengthen it.”

Participants can choose from a 5K walk, 5K run or 10K run through the scenic grounds of Spring Grove. The family-friendly event also features the second annual Lois Kay Kids Fun Run for children ages 3–12, where every participant receives a medal and begins race day with their own moment at the starting line. Named in honor of longtime Caracole supporter Lois Kay, the Kids Fun Run celebrates connection, joy and community involvement across generations.

Beyond fundraising, the event serves as an opportunity to educate the community about HIV and challenge stigma that continues to impact people living with the virus. Caracole provides free HIV prevention, housing and case management services that help thousands of people in Greater Cincinnati access medical care and improve their health and well-being.

Hundreds of participants are expected to attend the March 29 event, joining a growing tradition of community members coming together each spring in support of Caracole’s mission.

Registration is open to individuals, families and teams. Proceeds directly support Caracole’s mission to positively change lives in the fight against HIV. 🔥
