Grey skies. Light mists. All rainbows at Mansfield Pride.
Here’s some of what we saw at the Pride celebration in Richland County.
Grey skies and a light mist couldn’t keep the rainbows away from Mansfield on Saturday for the 11th annual Mansfield Pride.
LGBTQ+ community members and allies lined Park Avenue West for a parade featuring nonprofit organizations, local candidates and supportive businesses. The procession then led into South Park where local entertainers, food trucks and over 40 vendors created an atmosphere that was informative, festive and community-driven.
Pride organizers highlighted the theme of “Pride Rising” and its effect on the attendees.
“We are coming together as a community here, educating and connecting,” said Chelssie Dwiggins, president of Mansfield Gay Pride Organization.
Dwiggins did not hesitate to stress the importance of the LGBTQ+ Pride celebration in her local community.
“This visibility saves lives,” she said. “Representation really does matter.”
